Last morning, Syrian troops, with the support of the artillery and the Russian Air Forces, began to storm the besieged city of Ash Shajarah, located in the south-west of the province of Daraa. ISIS terrorists, in turn, massively used mined cars and suicide bombers; however, they were not succeeded in holding back the onslaught for a long time and eventually lost the city. Then, SAA engineers began to clear Ash Shajarah until the main units switched attention to the remaining settlements under the IS control.
Meanwhile, in the south of the neighboring province of Quneitra, government forces liberated the settlement of Maarriyah from terrorists, thereby establishing full control over the border with the occupied Golan Heights.
Gradually, Syrian troops are preparing for the operation against militants in the province of Idlib. There are continuous bombardments in the area of western Idlib and northern Latakia for the last few days. According to unofficial information, Kurdish fighters of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” can unite with the SAA for the joint operation.
