Yesterday the Syrian army began actively prepare for the operation against militants in the north of the province of Homs. Troops from the Eastern Qalamoun (Damascus gov.) arrived to the front line, while the RuAF and the SyAAF were launching air strikes on the enemy positions. More than 150 local militants preferred to lay down their arms and surrender to the Syrian authorities.
Also, with the mediation of Russian military negotiators, authorities managed to establish a dialogue with militants based in the southern regions of the city of Damascus. As a result, the rebels agreed to leave the Yalda, Beit Sahm and Babbila districts, and in exchange to allow more than 5,000 residents of the besieged settlements of Al-Foua and Kafarya to evacuate.
In the province of Deir Ezzor, Syrian troops unexpectedly attacked the US-led forces of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” and captured several settlements to the north of the city of Deir Ezzor. Later, however, there were reports that government troops left the occupied territories. As a result, at least 6 Kurdish soldiers with their commander were killed. There are also victims among the SAA.
