Tension prevails Manbij city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, between Arab clan members and people of Manbij city, against the forces of Manbij Military Council which control the city and is under the banner of Syria Democratic Forces. Local sources confirmed that the tension came against the backdrop of an accusations by clan members against the Council forces, of arresting and killing 2 young men and throwing their bodies in the countryside of the city. The tension in the city has evolved to demonstrations, verbal altercation and clashes between the clan members -who demanded to hold accountable those responsible for the murder of their children- and between members of Manbij Military Council, amid a state of confusion in the city and calls from the locals to calm things down, as well as calls from more sit-ins against the forces which are responsible and in control of the city.
It is noteworthy that the Syria Democratic Forces managed to take the control of Manbij city in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo, after violent clashes lasted from the end of May 2016, until August 2016, where the “Islamic State” organization was expelled completely from the city, and after the withdrawal of the organization from pockets that it stayed in with the families of its members as well as citizens that did not want to be controlled by the SDF.
