Over the past day, government forces have reduced the distance between their positions and the Abu ad Duhur Airbase to 15 km due to the liberation from the “Tahrir al-Sham” militants the town of Sinjar and several other settlements in its environs in the south of the province of Idlib. Militants, in return, announced the loss of 6 of their fighters.
Meanwhile, violent clashes between militants and SAA have continued in Harasta (Eastern Ghouta, Damascus) and its outskirts. The Syrian troops have captured several buildings in the Arab Neighborhood from their enemies, but later, during the counteroffensive, militants have broken through the second line of defense of the SAA. Yesterday, a brigade of the Republican Guard went to Harasta from the southern part of Deir Ezzor Governorate to strengthen government forces and to regain lost positions.
Late in the evening, a major terrorist attack occurred in the capital of the province of Idlib near the headquarters of the Caucasus Emirate group: as a result of the explosion of an IED-laden vehicle, about 100 people were killed, and at least 100 others were injured. Among the victims are a large number of “Tahrir al-Sham” fighters and their allies.
